Barevná fotografie kontra černobílá fotografie
Když už jsem docela zvládal černobílou fotografii a celý negativní i pozitivní proces, začal jsem tak po očku pokukovat i po barevné fotografii. Bohužel mít doma barevnou fotokomoru, tak na to nebyly ani prostory, ani zkušenosti, ani vybavení. Jenže nechat si zpracovávat fotografie někde v minilabu, to taky není žádná sláva. Tedy našly se víjimky, kde byli odborníci a trochu fotografii i minilabu rozuměli, ale bylo jich opravdu málo. Prostě se mi nějaký ten dobrý fotokanál podařilo najít a začal jsem experimentovat. No experimentovat...
Prostě jsem začal fotit co se dalo i nedalo a myslel si jakej jsem borec, a že to všem teď ukážu. Čím barevnější fotka, tím lepší! Bohužel (nebo naštěstí?) mě z mého omylu docela těžce vyvedli Jirka Šimánek s Petrem Fialou. "Hele, a to je jako co, tenhle pestrobarevnej zmatek? To snad nemyslíš vážně?" Zablekocal jsem něco jako "To je dobrý, ne?" Přednášku na téma barevná fotografie, kterou jsem v zápětí od nich dostal, mě fakt usadila! "Ty vole! Děláš dobrý černobílý fotky, ale tohle už příště nedělej. To je fakt sračka!" A tak jsem přišel na 
jedno z nejdůležitějších zjištění a omylů, ve svém fotografickém životě. Zatím, co černobílá fotografie je jednodušší a působivější, protože se obraz skládá z černé, bílé a mnoha odstínů šedé, které se spolu nepotlačují, u barevné fotografie právě psycholgie skladby barev hraje obrovskou roli. A tak jsem se znovu začal učit. Musím uznat, že když jsem za rok přitáhnul na sraz "Pentaxáků" nové fotografie, tak mi Jirka Šimánek řekl: "No je vidět, že ten minulej pojeb byl k něčemu dobrej, a že jsi asi pochopil, co jsem ti říkal. Tohle je už mnohem lepší! Jen se mi ty fotky zdají příliš sexuální."
Jednou z dalších věcí, které jsem v té době objevil, 
byly monochromatické filmy, které se zpracovávaly ve fotolabech, jako např Konica Monochrom 400, nebo obdobný Kodak (označení již nevím). Najednou jsem přišel na to, že takto pořízené "černobílé" fotografie se dají i působivě kolorovat do nejrůznějších odstínů. Jednoduché, efektní a hlavně dostupné. Jenže v té době začala již výrazně nastupovat digitální fotografie a její možnosti, kdy jsem sám mohl doma u PC ovlivnit a podle svého i upravit celý snímek, takže vše bylo najednou úplně o něčem jiném...
